Mount Israel 2630'

4.2 Miles 1700' Elevation gain

Kevin, Judy and Emma

As we were more or less new to winter hiking we were sticking to smaller mountains that weren't long drives to get to from Kingston. This was a nice climb, though it was very cold . We climbed from the south on the Wentworth Trail. From the summit there were great views south across Squam Lake and on to Winnepesaukee. Red Hill is visible to the south, and the view of this made us decide to do it soon, and in fact it became our next climb. The Ossipee Range is in full view to the southeast, and is quite impressive from this summit. From our vantage point we couldn't see anything to our north. I'm not sure if following the Mead Trail in that direction would have rewarded us with any views in that direction, I'll have to return to see, as we were too cold that day to do this.
